Early Years
Born in Abilene, Texas, Shannon Laird began his musical journey at an early age. Growing up in North Pole, Alaska, he was captivated by the power of rhythm. His fascination with drumming started when he watched a video on HBO’s Video Jukebox at Eielson Air Force Base. Inspired by the pulsating beats, Shannon began playing drums at the tender age of six.
First Drum Kit
At the age of seven, Shannon received his first drum kit, marking the start of a lifelong passion for music. His dedication and talent quickly became evident, and he began honing his skills with fervor.
Skellum and Opening for Ozzy Osbourne
Shannon’s first significant break came with the band Skellum. Their raw energy and powerful performances earned them the opportunity to open for the legendary Ozzy Osbourne at the Carlson Center Arena. This milestone solidified Shannon’s reputation as a formidable drummer on the rise.
Seattle and Musical Ventures
At the age of 22, Shannon moved to Seattle, a city renowned for its vibrant music scene. Embracing the new environment, he joined several bands, contributing his drumming prowess to diverse genres and styles. Among these bands were:
